Neeson vs. Damon.... FIGHT!!

Yes, ladies and.... well, as far as watchers go, ladies. Tonight brings you the fight of the lifetime! In this corner (imagine a corner), the broad, inquisitive-looking Jason Bourne, trained to be the ultimate weapon. Strengths: hand-to-hand pummeling, counter-surveillance, revenge. Weaknesses: Accident prone behind the wheel, amnesiac, not being able to get onto the Jimmy Kimmel show.

And this (other) corner, Bryan Mills, retired Preventor, sporting a large nose and sad, sad eyes. Strengths: unyielding will, "a very specific set of skills," and conveniently loose steam pipes. Weaknesses: OCD present-wrapping, driving on the wrong side of the road, being over(?)-protective.

Round 1.... Fight!

Just kidding. Matt Damon as Jason Bourne works well. He's strong, he's good at looking confused, and he pulls of the militant look rather nicely. Bourne as a character is relentless. Obstacles mean very little to this trained operative; they will be plowed through when not completely circumvented. And I'm sure for the ladies, he's easy on the eyes.

Shockingly, at least to me, Neeson did extremely well in Taken. Upon seeing his rather goofy smiles to his daughter, I would have sworn he hadn't the proper anatomy to toss around lines with steely killers, much less give them what-for. But there it is. Neeson switched seamlessly from disarming looks to disarming kicks-to-the-junk. Bravo, bravo.

Anyway, to be frank, the above was written a few weeks ago, drafted, and now barely dusted off and finished. Taken still kicks, though.

For those of you who may not know, I'm planning on taking a job in California for the summer! I'm excited no little amount. Mostly. My rent will be paid for, and I should be close to the office at which I'll be working. Then there's the obvious touristability of wherever in Cali I'll be, which is cool and well-anticipated. There is a slight downside in that I'll be rooming with some of the other people working down there. Over there. Whatever. I'm of the opinion that, should I be bugged not, I shall not bug.

What else....? Oh! I've been meeting weekly with a student from Taiwan who goes to school here at UVU as well. As part of the English Conversation Club, we just have to chat for awhile so he can get a feel for English. Though, those who have talked to me know I may not really have been the best candidate for the job. Hmm. Anyway, he seems pretty cool, and he has a nice fiancee, who speaks English pretty well herself. It's neat. Also, my beautiful Japanified gyosa are pronounced jioza in Chinese. A bit of a tidbit for you there.

Speaking of Japanese, my classes have been ranging from worrying to hair-pulling. I'm starting to struggle with the kanji (Chinese characters) in Japanese, and we just learned a head-pounding four new grammar rules today and yesterday. Okay, it might not seem like much, but it's compounding. And Japanese is the best of my classes.

Work is starting to pick up, too. No longer is it the realm of relaxation and restful reasoning I once knew. Daily, more chores to be done, more problematic people to placate, and almost all alliterations are absolved. Phew.

Today's haiku:

何をする?
すしを食べたい?
箸がない。

  1. As to the beginning, Long Kiss Goodnight has the same sort of thing, you'd never believe that Gina Davis could pull off the char of an assassin but she does, admirably in fact. I've never seen either of the movies that you mentioned though.

So you ARE moving to Cali then? I'd not gotten an update from your sister and you never talk to me.....except to insult me on her IM of course!! Sounds like a fairly good deal, what are you planning on doing after the summer if it is only a summer job? I know you had been planning on moving anyways.

The language sounds cool but I agree that you don't talk enough to be helpful. :p

As for classes, for once I can't commiserate, I'm getting 100% in both my classes. Yay me!! Oh, but that sucks man. Poor Richard. ::)

  2. You're missing out on the movies.

I'm moving just for the summer, and it's a thing for where I'm already working. After, I'll return to Utah and continue doing what I do now. For the most part. And you're welcome to annoy me on IM sometime. :P

But you never know. I might move to Japan some day and speak it every day.

And I hate you. Well, your scholastic ease, anyway.

  3. Are you going to be able to save while you are there over the summer? Or are you not planning on moving permanently anymore? And I have not your IM, I never got it. Or not the one you use anyways.

    And hey, it works.

And don't hate me cause I'm smart.......it's the first time I've ever had this good grades. EVER. I'm a terrible student. So let me have my moment.

  4. "Are you going to be able to save while you are there over the summer?"

Uh... why? Are there no save points in CA? And I was never planning on moving permanently. Nope, just a summer job. And congrats on your good student-hood, no matter how temporary it might be. I'm busy slacking off here rather than studying my Japanese or typing up my late paper...

  5. Well,it sounded like you had trouble saving more because of familial responsibilities then anything else. And I was just curious.
Thanks for the congrats, it's nice to finally be able to show off my good grades. I always had a lack of enthusiasm about school.
As to you, get to work! Sheesh, how are you ever going to go back to having better grades then me if you slack!?!

  6. Oh. And the moving permanently comment was for moving out of Utah. I had heard you wanted to. That's all.
